Hannah DiVerde

Hi everybody! My name is Hannah DiVerde and I am a junior at UC Berkeley majoring in Legal Studies. I was a part of the UCDC Fall 2021 cohort and had the opportunity to intern at the House of Representatives for Congressman Tony Cárdenas during my time in DC. UCDC gave me the opportunity to work hands-on in a political environment like no other. The faculty and staff provided a quality classroom experience at the UC Washington Center and encouraged me to maximize my time in DC through networking and making lasting professional connections. I also loved the opportunity to meet new people from all UC campuses and people from UC Berkeley I had never had the opportunity to meet before. If you would like to talk to me about my internship experience in DC, the application process for UCDC, or any other questions you may have about the program, feel free to contact me via email: to set up an office hour appointment. I look forward to helping you in any way I can!

Olivia Henderson

Hi all! My name is Olivia, and I’m a fourth year student from Charlotte, NC. Here at Cal, I study Media Studies and Spanish. While in DC, I worked as a Communications + Partnerships Intern for the Smithsonian Arts + Industries Building (the first National Museum!). During my time with the Smithsonian, we opened a brand new exhibit, FUTURES, in late November. I even got to meet Bill Nye! UCDC was the most exciting and transformative experience – I could not recommend the program highly enough. You can reach me at – my bCal is also up to date!

Emily Larson

Hi Bears! My name is Emily Larson. I am a fourth year Political Science major and Public Policy/History minor. I just completed the UCDC program last Fall and I had the time of my life. Living in DC and getting to meet our cohort is an experience unlike any other and something I hope you all can take advantage of. I spent my internship at the Brookings Institution researching Congress and its various rules and procedures. I am super interested in public policy and think tank work around policy research and development. Please reach out if you have any questions about myself, the UCDC application process, life in the city, internship help, or whatever else you might need. I will be available on Mondays and Fridays from 12-1 or by appointment on Zoom or in the UCDC offices (2422 Dwinelle Hall). Just feel free to shoot me an email at
